(Ficus elastica, the rubber fig, rubber bush, rubber tree, rubber plant)
If you’re new to the world of caring for your own plants, then Fido is the perfect companion. Not only is he charming in appearance, he’s also easy to care for and great at purifying air.
Bright, indirect light is perfect for Fido. He enjoys some morning sun, but no bright, direct sunlight.
Not so into:
Over-watering. You’ll know you’re giving this chap too much to drink if his leaves start to fall off.
Food and drink:
In the warmer months you can water Fido once a week. In the colder months you can space this watering out by a few more days. Let the top layer of his soil dry out before watering again. Fido’s leaves also love a little wipe down with a damp cloth once in a while.
It’s best to not let your pets and children nibble on Fido as he is toxic when ingested. If you’re planning on pruning him, then wear some gloves as his sap can cause skin irritation for some.
